Do you still have a job?
I have spent a lot of time this week contacting my friends all over the country, some I’ve know for 30 years, who work in journalism, asking them that question. Fortunately, we all survived the latest round of layoffs. But I’ve watched other dear friends pack up their desks this year. Most have done so with a smile. They will still continue journalism, albeit on their own, working freelance. That’s why I love people in this business. They have such a passion for what they do. Still, it’s such an unsettling time. I hope I will be allowed to continue this career a little longer.
